Choi Oneseo creates furniture based on the methodologies of industrial design and craft. He explores furniture
where the functions and value can be defined subjectively and vary with the user rather than products with their
usage preordained by the maker. He continues to develop new narratives for his furniture in plastic language by
means of imagining stories that have never before been discovered before in the materials. During the making process, he eliminates some of the functions of an object he creates by observing it outside of human-centered perspectives. As a result, the range of the functions of each object is reestablished. 최원서는 산업디자인과 공예에 기반하여 가구를 주요 매체로 작업해왔다. 일방향의 매뉴얼화 된 제품으로서 가구를 너머서 사유에 의해 용도와 가치가 변화하는 주관적 가구를 탐구해왔다. 주로 소재가 가지지 못했던 이야기를 상상하고 새로운 내러티브를 생성하며, 이를 가구의 조형 언어로 표현하고 있다. 그 과정에서 일부의 용도를 상실시키거나 인간 중심에서 벗어난 시각으로 사물을 바라보며 실용의 범위를 재설정한다. 최근에는 작가가 소재에서 발견한 내러티브 자체를 추출하고 그것을 재가공하여 가구의 조형에서 벗어난 평면, 입체 조형 등의 형태로 표현을 확장해 나가고 있다.
